Capt Billy Black has been a professional fisherman for over 30 years. For most of these years, his sportfishing boat, the 50 foot Hatteras "Duchess", was the premier charter boat operating out of Walkers Cay, the legendary northern Bahamas fishing destination. During his long tenure in the Bahamas, Capt Billy Black has had at one time or another many of the Bahamian record catches for Blue Marlin, White Marlin, Bluefin Tuna, Yellowfin Tuna, Dolphin, Wahoo, and Sailfish. Many of his monster blue marlins have been raised on trolling lures he has customized over a lifetime of big-game tournament fishing, and now retails to the public.
“El Viejo” is Captain Billy Black’s newest piece of fishing gear. By anyone's definition this classic 53 foot Rybovich is the ultimate sportfishing machine! The Billy Black fishing team has equipped El Viejo with all the gear - and then some - necessary to chase down the biggest marlin, to boat that monster wahoo, or drag up your denizen of the deep.
Capt Billy Black was raised in Madison County, Florida, hunting for rabbits, hogs, deer, quail, dove, and gators. He has lived life as an avid hunter and an outdoorsman. Capt Billy is fond of saying that he is most at peace when surrounded by nature and the great outdoors. Well, mother ocean is a pretty big place, so there's no lack of nature, but peaceful it’s not when El Viejo is hooked up to a monster gamefish. It’s a pure adrenaline rush for all involved as he orchestrates catching up another potential record and making memories of a lifetime for the entire crew.
